Suitability
Some sites in Queensland have specific requirements for the customisation of their generic induction training (for example BMA), anyone who is considering enrolling in the Standard 11 Induction is advised to first confirm the specific requirements of their site.
Preparation
Being "fit for work" is one of your legal obligations in the mining industry. You will be expected to be "fit for work" for this training. You should be well rested and prepared to participate. Drug and alcohol testing is conducted as part of the training in the same way as it will be conducted on many mine sites. Employers are advised of results. During the course you will also be required to extinguish an actual fire, so you should come dressed in appropriate clothing.
Duration
3 Days of contact for classroom component to gain RRTO ID Card PLUS evidence gathering at site after the course to issue final statements of attainment as per the specific requirements of the Qld Department of Mines (in many cases, the regular site induction for a worker or contractor will suffice).
Objective
To provide an introduction to working in the mining industry
- start participants on the path to completing the requirements laid out in Recognised Standard 11.
- prepare participants to work with the safety and health management system on a surface mine
*The RRTO Induction – Standard 11 Surface is a program owned and managed by the Resources RTO Association Inc (RRTO). NOST is a member of the association and is licensed by RRTO to deliver the program.
Delivery
Class room based delivery at our venue, or delivered specifically for clients at their venue and contextualised to the client’s specific systems.
Accreditation
This learning program has two components:
- Classroom based training and assessment to issue the RRTO ID Card with photo
- Submission of site based practical evidence in order to be issued with a statement of attainment
In combination, the two components of the learning program meet the requirements of the following national units of competency:
- RIIOHS201A Work safely and follow OHS policies and procedures
- RIIERR205A Apply initial response first aid
- RIIGOV201A Comply with site work processes/procedures
- RIIRIS201A Conduct local risk control
- RIICOM201A Communicate in the workplace
- RIIERR302A Respond to local emergencies and incidents
