Individuals gain skills and knowledge through a range or work, study, life and other experiences. Recognition is a process whereby evidence is collected and a judgement is made by an assessor or an assessment team against the requirements of one or more endorsed units of competency for a relevant industry Training Package.

The assessor makes a judgement about the competency of the candidate based on a range of evidence provided by the candidate.

A range of options are available to those people who believe recognition is an appropriate process to undertake. The process may include all, or a combination of:

  • Current and previous work history.
  • Existing competencies/qualification.
  • Additional training.
  • Assessment.
